DTM – C1: Lucas Auer leads a quadruple Mercedes

Starting from pole position, lucas auer (Mercedes) was surprised by Augusto Farfus (BMW) who took the lead from 4e place. The first part of the race saw the track dry out and BMW decided halfway through the race to stop several of its drivers to switch to slick tires. This turned out to be a mistake since the rain reappeared a few minutes later, forcing Wittmann, Glock, Spengler, but also Ekström (Audi) to stop a second time for rain tires.

The winners of these changing weather conditions were the Mercedes drivers who stopped later. While Farfus had to make two stops, Paul di Resta led the race in front of Auer until the penultimate lap where the Austrian easily got the better of his teammate.

Lucas Auer therefore won his third victory of the season ahead of di Resta and Robert Wickens for the podium. Maro Engel completes a quadruple for the Silver Arrows. René Rast and Jamie Green (Audi) also postponed their stops and finished 5e and 6e ahead of Edoardo Mortara (Mercedes), also a winner in the weather. The BMWs of Augusto Farfus and Marco Wittmann only finished 8e and 9e while the last Mercedes of Gary Paffet brings up the rear. Loïc duval (Audi) had a difficult race which he finished in 18the instead.
