DTM-C1: René Rast ahead of Mike Rockenfeller in Moscow

Audi Sport pocketed an uncontested victory this Saturday at the Moscow Raceway, after the double won by René Rast and Mike Rockenfeller.

Starting from the first row, with pole position for Rast after the five-position penalty inflicted on Marco Wittmann (BMW) after a third caution at the Norisring, the tandem of the brand with the rings dominated the entirety of the first confrontation of the week -end.

Rockenfeller, however, had to resist the attack of Augusto Farfus (BMW) in the first minutes of the race, who had to return to the pits after contact between the two drivers.

After observing their stop in the same sequence one lap apart, Rast and Rockenfeller remained in the same order until the checkered flag, despite Rockenfeller's attempted comeback after the tire change.

A performance all the more remarkable for “Rocky”, who drove with a fracture in the left foot, following the Norisring accident with Gary Paffett and which forced him to accelerate and brake with his right foot. Rast took the opportunity to regain the advantage in the Drivers' championship.

Marco Wittmann overcame his penalty on the starting grid to take the last step of the podium after winning his duel against Robert Wickens, fourth and first representative of the clan Mercedes this Saturday.

Timo Glock (BMW), involved in contact with Mattias Ekström (Audi) on the first lap which caused the Swede to lose several positions, finished fifth ahead of Lucas Auer (Mercedes). Gary Paffett (Mercedes) follows in front of Ekström, Jamie Green (Audi) and Maro Engel (Mercedes).

Loïc duval (Audi) fails at the points gate in eleventh position.
