By finishing fourth yesterday afternoon in the second race organized on the Hungaroring near Budapest, Marco Wittmann (BMW) had performed well in the championship by leaving Eastern Europe with a substantial lead of 26 points over Edoardo Mortara (Audi) before the Hockenheim final (October 15-16).
This was without taking into account the exclusion of the BMW driver after the technical checks carried out after the finish, which detected a thickness of the bottom board of the M4 DTM too weak, just like on the Mercedes by Daniel Juncadella, 3rd Sunday afternoon.
These two exclusions allow António Félix da Costa (BMW) to climb onto the third step of the podium which remains provisional, because Mercedes and BMW have decided to appeal the decision. In the championship, Wittmann currently remains 14 points ahead of Mortara and 39 over Jamie Green (Audi), still in the running for the crown.
