DTM – Di Resta returns to success

Starting on pole, Paul di Resta (Mercedes) dominated Race 2 of the DTM in Hockenheim to sign his first success in the discipline since 2010. The Scotsman who took the lead in the Championship beat a hat-trick of BMWs made up of Timo Glock, Augusto Farfus and Maxime Martin who failed to reach the podium after being taken over by the German and the Brazilian.

The podium changed at the end of the race following the disqualification of Timo Glock due to a technical infraction relating to the measurements of his BMW M4. The new top three is now completed by BMW drivers Augusto Farfus and Maxime Martin, while Mike Rockenfeller (Audi) enters the points.

Despite a drive through inflicted for leaving the pits in a dangerous manner, Gary Paffett (Mercedes) took fourth place ahead of Robert Wickens (Mercedes) and Tom Blomqvist (BMW).

Martin Tomczyk (BMW) only took ninth place after making a mistake that benefited Nico Müller, first Audi driver, and Marco Wittmann (BMW).

If Adrien Tambay (Audi) arrived in 13th place, his compatriot Esteban Ocon (Mercedes) retired again after being caught by Antonio Félix da Costa (BMW).
