DTM – Esteban Ocon and Charles Pic at Mercedes tests

If Laurens Vanthoor had the privilege of driving the Audi RS 5 DTM, Mercedes rewarded five drivers by offering them a competitive test session at the wheel of an AMG C Coupé from December 2 to 4 in Jerez (Spain). Among the guests, Esteban Ocon and Charles Pic were the two Frenchmen in the party. The two French pilots were accompanied by Felix Rosenqvist, Lucas Auer and Maximilian Götz.

Esteban Ocon had a brilliant season winning the F3 European Championship before carrying out tests F1 with the Team Ferrari and Lotus F1 Team, especially in a Grand Prix weekend. “I loved this test which went without problems. It was quite difficult to adapt to the car because you can't see much compared to a car. This was my first time driving a car with a roof and I'm pretty happy with my progress and hope to have another opportunity to drive this one day. »

His compatriot Charles Pic also discovered the Mercedes C AMG Coupé after having held the position of test driver at Lotus F1 Team this season. “It was also the first time I drove a car with a roof at Jerez and I had a lot to learn. It took me a few laps to get used to the visibility. The braking was also very different from what I'm used to, but I had fun. »

Maximilian Götz was undoubtedly the best prepared to drive a DTM. The 28-year-old German is playing successfully in GT since he won this season the Blancpain Sprint Series title at the wheel of a Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 entered by HTP Motorsport. “It was really fantastic to drive this car once the season was over. I always dreamed of being able to test a DTM. It was really nice with these mild temperatures in Jerez. I was able to complete a small number of laps and work on some settings. »
