DTM – Farfus wins ahead of Rocky at Oschersleben

After Hockenheim, Augusto Farfus (BMW) won his second victory of the year by winning at Oschersleben. The Brazilian took the advantage over pole sitter Jamie Green as soon as the lights went out by starting from the front row and quickly built his lead to no longer be threatened. The winner of the weekend becomes the closest rival to Mike Rockenfeller who now has a 33-point lead with two events remaining in the season. The Audi driver secured second place by choosing to make his first pit stop on the fifth lap. The German will only need a second place to secure the coronation. The podium is completed by Jamie Green who signs his first podium with the manufacturer on the rings.

Filipe Albuquerque (Audi) took his first points of the season by finishing just outside the top three after starting from fifth place. Timo Scheider (Audi) signs his best result of the season by taking fifth position ahead of the Mercedes of Gary Paffett who started outside the top ten after receiving a penalty and who celebrated his 100th start in the discipline. Mattias Ekström (Audi) finished seventh ahead of Miguel Molina (Audi). Adrien Tambay (Audi) achieved a third consecutive finish in the points by taking ninth place ahead of Edoardo Mortara (Audi). It is a success for Audi which places all its RS5 DTM in the points.

The Championship is experiencing a turning point since Mike Rockenfeller is now heading straight for the coronation. His opponents indeed had a disappointing race since Christian Vietoris (Mercedes) only finished in 18th position after starting from the back of the grid, while Robert Wickens (Mercedes) and Bruno Spengler (BMW) had to retire following yet another contact between the two cars.
