If Mike Rockenfeller has a good advantage in the Championship, Christian Vietoris and Robert Wickens could well reverse the trend this weekend at Oschersleben.

DTM – Misstep prohibited for Vietoris and Wickens at Oschersleben

Christian Vietoris and Robert Wickens are the Championship leader's most serious opponents Mike rockenfeller before the Oschersleben event where the antepenultimate event of the season will take place this weekend DTM. However, with respectively 35 and 36 points behind the Audi driver, the German and the Canadian cannot afford to miss their weekend when there are only 75 points left in total to collect.

After securing his fourth podium of the year at the Nürburgring, Christian Vietoris intends to once again showcase himself on the track where he scored his first points in the discipline in 2011 and where he will celebrate his 30th start in DTM. “Third place at the Nürburgring was the best and probably the most important third place on the podium of my DTM career, and also at home which makes the result even better”, comments the 24-year-old German pilot. “I am now in second place in the Championship and I am looking forward to the final races of the season, starting with Oschersleben. As before, I will take the events as they come, but I hope that I can climb two more steps than during my previous four podiums. I know the Oschersleben podium since I went through Formula BMW and F3 Euro Series, I won victories in both disciplines. It's a fantastic circuit that I know inside and out. Compared to the calendar routes, Oschersleben is relatively slow and most corners are taken in first or second gear. »

For Robert Wickens, the motivation is even higher after the Canadian took his first DTM victory in the last event at the Nürburgring. With only one point behind second place in the Championship, the STIHL team driver still has a card to play at the end of the season. “My first DTM race at the Nürburgring was an incredible experience despite the disastrous weather conditions. I knew anything would be possible in the race, but I didn't expect this result. Even now, almost four weeks in, I still have a smile on my face when I think about it. But that's all in the past. My victory at the Nürburgring has nothing to do with my chances for the next event. I am now third in the Championship, but my goal for the rest of the season is simply to score as many points as possible. I would like to continue this good work in Oschersleben. The track is very demanding on the drivers and the car and there aren't many straights where you can breathe. The curbs are impressive and we will need good traction and stable settings in the corners to be fast there. »
