DTM – Gary Paffett: “Continuing my momentum”

Since his debut in 2003 in the German touring car championship, Gary Paffett has never had such a good start to a campaign. While the mid-season milestone was reached last month at the Norisring, the 31-year-old Briton leads the general classification with 26 points ahead of his runner-up and teammate, Jamie Green.

« The first part of the season was almost perfect for me: two victories, two podiums and a fourth place even though I started in last position on the starting grid., explains Paffett. I will be happy if the second part of the season goes like this. My Mercedes AMG C-Coupé has performed magnificently in the first five races of the season, and I intend to continue the momentum »

Despite his 19 victories on the clock in 87 starts, Gary Paffett has only won once at the Nürburgring, on Mercedes land. The test pilot of McLaren en F1 intends to increase its prize list this weekend for this sixth round of the season. “ I already won a race DTM on this circuit and in previous years, I achieved some good results there, he adds. Even in the wet, I'm fast, and as everyone knows, rain is a frequent phenomenon in the Eifel mountains. My victory in 2004 was a few years ago now, but I wouldn't mind starting the second part of the season like I did at Hockenheim, with a victory. »
