DTM – Heikki Kovalainen tested the BMW M4

Heikki Kovalainen had not been talked about since the end of last year when he replaced his compatriot Kimi Räikkönen at Lotus for the last races of the season, then in open conflict with the Lotus team.enstone. The one who was Caterham reserve driver in 2013, subsequently did not find a steering wheel for 2014 in F1. From then on, the former pilot McLaren et Renault had shown relative discretion until the end of August. Heikki Kovalainen carried out a test on behalf of BMW Motorsport during a test session on the German Lausitzring circuit, alongside the brand's drivers in the German championship. DTM Marco Wittmann, current leader, and the Canadian Bruno Spengler, champion in 2012 for the return of the brand to the propeller on the German touring rounds. Specific work on the tires was on the program for the Scandinave.

“First of all, I am very happy that BMW Motorsport offered me the opportunity to drive their car, said the winner of the 2008 Hungarian Grand Prix. I was really looking forward to this experience. To be honest, I didn't really know what to expect as I had never driven a car like this. But I felt really comfortable in the BMW M4 DTM from the start. It's an impressive car. Of course it is heavier than an F1 and has less power, but the aerodynamics are very good and you can take the corners with a lot of speed. The team helped me a lot getting used to all the settings. They are very professional. I really enjoyed the day. »
