DTM – Jamie Green leaves Mercedes for Audi

After David Coulthard and Susie Wolff, Jamie Green also leaves Mercedes who has still not announced his next drivers for 2013. The Briton, third in the 2012 Championship behind Bruno Spengler and Gary Paffett, is putting an end to eight years of collaboration with the Stuttgart manufacturer. The 2004 champion of the F3 Euro Series will offer its services to rival Audi who will need its consistency to get off to a good start in 2013. Jamie Green was the only driver in the 2012 season to finish each race in the points.

“Audi is a fascinating manufacturer with fantastic products”, comments the King of the Norisring. “I am convinced that with Audi, I will be able to achieve my goal: winning the title DTM. I sincerely thank my previous employer and making this change after so many years of collaboration was certainly not easy for me. But I am considering this step carefully and I am looking forward to this new challenge by getting behind the wheel of the Audi A5 for the first time. »

In any case, Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich has no doubts about Jamie Green's performance and experience. “Jamie Green is without a doubt one of the best DTM drivers currently on the track,” assures the Audi sporting director. “He proved it in 2012 and was more or less able to choose his manufacturer to continue in DTM. We are delighted that he has chosen Audi and convinced that he will strengthen the team's performance with his speed and experience. »
