DTM – 2013 calendar announced

After announcing a partnership with the Japanese Super GT for 2014, the organization of the DTM presented its program for 2013. With 6 races on German soil, for 5 abroad, the German Touring Championship is now tending towards internationalization. A desire marked by the stage organized in Russia. “ For the DTM, a race in Moscow is important to penetrate new markets, announced Hans Werner Aufrecht. For the series and our manufacturers (BMW, Mercedes and Audi. Editor’s note), the organization of such a race represents a chance to present itself at the international level in front of a new audience. » Apart from Russia, Spain, Great Britain, Holland and Austria will also be scheduled.

On the German side, the usual circuits will be visited, with Hockenheim (opening and closing as tradition dictates), the Lausitzring, the Norisring, Nürburgring and Oschersleben, plus a meeting which is still undetermined. Note, however, the disappearance of the demonstration event at the Olympic Stadium in Munich. Despite the popular success of the event, it no longer seemed possible to organize it in its current form. “ We always said there was only one way to organize it in the long term, and that was by turning it into a full-fledged round of the championship. » explains Ralph Huber, CEO of Olympiapark. A request that is technically not feasible according to Hans Werner Aufrecht. “ We have had two great years in Munich, but ensuring absolute equality of opportunity on a parallel circuit remains impossible ».
