DTM – The 2017 calendar revealed

Only the dates of the first two rounds of the DTM 2017 had been revealed a few weeks ago, but this Friday, the organizers of the German series finally presented their copy concerning the nine events (with two races at each meeting) on the program for the next season.

After a start to the championship at Hockenheim (May 5-7) in parallel with the World Championship meeting Rallycross, the DTM competitors will head to the Lausitzring (with the ADAC GT Masters in support), then to Hungary, significantly advanced compared to 2016, where the two confrontations in Budapest took place at the end of September.

The races on the Hungaroring will, however, take place on the same weekend as the 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 17-18). A conflict of dates which should not delight Loïc Duval and René Rast, entered with Audi in DTM, as well as other possible drivers who might not be able to line up at the start of the Sarthe double clock.

If the Norisring retains its usual July date, the Russian meeting in Moscow is brought forward by one month, in a reversal of dates with that of Zandvoort (Netherlands), now placed in August. The Nürburgring will serve as a back-to-school test from September 8 to 10, before returning to Red Bull Ring in Austria, moved back to September, after serving as a second meeting in 2016.

The traditional final will take place from October 13 to 15 in Hockenheim. Audi, BMW and Mercedes will once again be the three brands present, but will reduce the size in terms of the number of entrants, with six cars per manufacturer in 2017.

If Audi and BMW have already confirmed their drivers, Mercedes has yet to announce who will join Edoardo Mortara in the C63 AMG DTM.
