DTM – The title for Rockenfeller, the honors for Farfus

Marco Wittmann (BMW) did not enjoy his pole advantage for long at Zandvoort. The German was overtaken when the lights went out by Augusto Farfus (BMW) who set off alongside him on the front line. The Brazilian was chased by his rival Mike Rockenfeller (Audi) who also quickly got rid of the M3 DTM from the poleman but who did not succeed in reducing his delay on the leader of the race. The positions at the head of the race have no longer changed, but the new success of Augusto Farfus, who signs his third victory of the season and his second in a row after Oschersleben, is not enough to sufficiently reduce the gap on the leader. of the Championship who becomes the first winner at 24 Hours of Le Mans to win the DTM crown after Laurent Aiello in 2002.

The end of the race was nevertheless lively following the intervention of the safety car for contact between Jamie Green and Dirk Werner at the end of the pit straight, the latter going at full speed into the gravel trap. Timo Scheider (Audi) managed to secure his first podium in the discipline after letting Rocky take second place after the second round of stops. Mattias Ekström (Audi) took advantage of his soft tires to move up the positions in the last stint and climb into fourth place ahead of Marco Wittmann and Adrian Tambay (Audi) who signed his fourth consecutive finish in the points. Joey Hand (BMW) and Filipe Albuquerque (Audi) follow in front of Gary Paffett who hoists first Mercedes in ninth place. The top ten is completed by the RS 5 DTM of Miguel Molina. Timo Glock (BMW) only takes 18th place.
