DTM – Lucas Auer wins first Hockenheim race

Starting from pole position, lucas auer managed to build a fairly significant advantage in the first part of the race, up to nine seconds ahead of Timo Glock (BMW), who passed second in the first moments of the event ahead of Gary Paffett (Mercedes) and Edoardo Mortara (Mercedes).

Despite losing a few seconds during his pit stop, Auer was able to keep the advantage over Timo Glock while Mike Rockenfeller (Audi) took advantage of his staggered stop on the leaders to insert himself between the first two leaders.

In the final laps, Glock, passing Rockenfeller again, tried everything to take first place. After several laps under pressure, and despite contact between the two rivals, Auer managed to keep the lead under the checkered flag and signed his second victory in DTM after his victory at the Lausitzring in 2016.

With Glock and Rockenfeller on the podium, the three championship brands are represented in the first three places. Edoardo Mortara (Mercedes) finished fourth and Mattias Ekström (Audi), who started 17th, completed the top 5 ahead of René Rast (Audi).

Loïc duval (Audi) finished fourteenth in his first DTM race.
