DTM – Marco Wittmann takes control in Hungary

Marco Wittmann (BMW Team RMG) did the hardest part by taking pole at the Hungaroring where overtaking is particularly complicated. The German led the race from start to finish to sign his second victory of the season after that won at Hockenheim and regain the lead of the Championship, taking advantage in particular of the poor performance of Mike Rockenfeller (Audi Sport Team Phoenix) who painfully finished in the top ten. Miguel Molina (Audi Sport Team Abt Sportline) finished second ahead of Bruno Spengler (BMW Team Schnitzer) who carried out a daring strategy by starting from ninth position on standard tires.

Timo Glock (BMW Team MTEK) was hopeful of a good result but the German suffered from several contacts, the last one causing a puncture in the final laps dropping him to 19th place. The top five is thus completed by the Audis of Team Abt of Edoardo Mortara and Adrien Tambay who are ahead of the M4 DTM by Maxime Martin (BMW Team RMG). Jamie Green (Audi Sport Team Rosberg), Antonio Félix da Costa (BMW Team MTEK) and Mattias Ekström (Audi Sport Team Abt Sportline) finished ahead of the defending champion. Mercedes is still in disarray since the first AMG C Coupé only took 11th place with Robert Wickens.
