DTM – Marco Wittmann crowned at Lausitzring, Wehrlein winner

The Drivers' Championship was sealed at the Lausitzring (Germany) when Mattias Ekström (Audi) had to retire due to a loose wheel. Marco Wittmann (BMW) succeeds Mike Rockenfeller by becoming the new champion of the DTM after spending a good portion of it avoiding trouble. The German who started from seventh position won the coronation with two events still to go, after having still won four victories in eight events!

Pascal Wehrlein (Mercedes) seems to want to follow in his footsteps since the German signed his first victory at home after dominating the race by starting from pole. The native of Sigmaringen becomes the youngest winner of the DTM at 19 years old. The star manufacturer signs a double with Christian Vietoris who made a sensational start from 11th position. The Stuttgart brand could even have achieved the hat-trick with Daniel Juncadella, but the Spaniard finished behind Timo Scheider (Audi) who completed a 100% German podium after taking advantage of the drive-through inflicted on the Mercedes for failure to respect the yellow flags . Robert Wickens (Mercedes) completes the top five after observing the same sanction.

It's all the same a source of grimace for Audi, which has still not achieved the slightest victory this season. Adrien Tambay was unable to help the manufacturer on the rings, the Frenchman having given up.
