DTM: Martin Tomczyk masters the rain

The rain appeared on the Red Bull Ring during qualifying DTM. Under these difficult conditions, Martin Tomczyk was the most skilled at the wheel of his Audi A4 DTM and went for pole with a time of 1:40:001. “Pole was the goal after all the encouraging things seen this weekend,” comments the pole sitter. “Everything worked out well so I could set a good time. »

Oliver Jarvis (Audi) will start alongside the German on the first row of the grid. The Briton will have to be wary of Ralf Schumacher (Mercedes), who will seek to gain the upper hand over their rivals starting from 3rd place. “I forgot how beautiful it is here”, underlines the former pilot of F1. “It was difficult with these changes in weather. Hydroplaning is even more dangerous on a fast circuit. Starting from 3rd place promises great opportunities for tomorrow. We have to wait and see what weather conditions will be there for the race. »

Bruno Spengler (Mercedes), leader of the Championship, will have to work hard to achieve a good result after his poor 12th place on the starting grid. “I struggled with the grip (of my car). 12th place is not a great result, but at least I will enjoy my race?, the Canadian consoles himself.
