DTM – Mattias Ekström victorious at Hockenheim

Mattias Ekström returned to victory by taking his 20th victory at the end of Race 2 at Hockenheim. The Swede took the advantage from the start before having to stop to change to wet tires due to the deterioration of the weather. The Scandinavian was easily able to take back the lead against Edoardo Mortara who gave Audi the double. The Italian leads the Championship at the end of this first meeting.

The podium is completed by Gary Paffett (Mercedes – ART) who made a sensational comeback from the back of the grid. The Briton, penalized following a DRS problem identified during qualifying, took advantage of the wet track to overtake a majority of the peloton. The BMWs of Martin Tomczyk and Marco Wittmann complete the top five ahead of pole sitter Mike Rockenfeller (Audi). Maxime Martin (BMW) is 14th while Adrien Tambay (Audi) retired following contact.
