DTM – Maxime Martin on pole, Mercedes suffering

Maxime Martin brilliantly won his first pole position in DTM on the Moscow route in Russia in 1'28″619. The driver of the BMW M4 of Team RMG narrowly beat his teammate from the propeller brand, the Canadian Bruno Spengler. The 2012 champion fails 19 thousandths behind the Belgian and is ahead of the two Audis of Nico Müller and Mike Rockenfeller, reigning champion, who set the same time in 1'28″714.

Adrien Tambay (Audi) will start from 5th position. The RS5 and M4 DTM monopolize the first 13 places in a qualifying session that is still extremely complicated for Mercedes. If the firm with the star dominates in F1, the situation is not the same this season in DTM. The first AMG C-Coupé, that of Robert Wickens, will start in 14th position. Vitaly Petrov brings up the rear again.
