DTM – Mercedes, at home for the start of the season

La DTM resumes its rights this weekend, at Hockenheim. For the inaugural round of the season, Mercedes will play at home. And will display a new, younger face, with six drivers whose average age reaches 23 years. Alongside the very experienced Gary Paffett, champion of the discipline in 2005, Roberto Merhi, Christian Vietoris, Robert Wickens, Daniel Juncadella and Pascal Wehrlein will defend the colors of the star firm. “Hockenheim is the perfect location, in a wonderful setting for the start of the new DTM season”, comments Toto wolff, head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport. « It is a stimulating and demanding circuit. Hockenheim is not only a home game for Mercedes-Benz, it is also a successful territory for us?, details the Austrian, before specifying the high ambitions for the year.

“Our objective this season is very clear: we want to win races and secure the championship. Gary Paffett will be our spearhead, certainly, but with our five juniors from Mercedes-Benz we have a contingent full of young people who are hungry for success., explains Wolff. “Our young drivers have already demonstrated their talents by earning victories and championships in some of the best junior series in the world, such as F3 Euro Series, in GP3 and in World Series by Renault, and have the potential to forge successful careers. We have a long tradition of bringing in young drivers and we are confident that we are on the right track and will be rewarded in the future?, concludes the boss of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport.
