DTM – Molina places Audi at the forefront at Hockenheim

With a 21-point gap between Audi and BMW, the Manufacturers' title is far from being decided before the season finale at Hockenheim (Germany). The RS 5 DTM seem more efficient on the German track since the first three positions on the grid are occupied by cars on the rings. Miguel Molina was the fastest in the last qualifying session with a lap completed in 1'33"316 to beat Mattias Ekström, the double champion losing by less than two hundredths.

Edoardo Mortara moved the BMW of Augusto Farfus back to fourth, the Brazilian being the only one along with Antonio Félix da Costa, ninth on the grid, to place an M4 DTM in the top ten. Jamie Green (Audi) and Pascal Wehrlein (Mercedes) will start from the third row ahead of Mike Rockenfeller (Audi) and Timo Scheider (Audi). Adrien Tambay (Audi) will start from 11th place behind Paul di Resta (Mercedes), while Maxime Martin (BMW) is only 15th, two places behind the new champion Marco Wittmann (BMW).

If the positions were to remain as they are, Audi would win the Manufacturers' title with a 43-point lead.
