DTM – Mortara wins with Audi at the Norisring

After the first race of the season at Hockenheim, Edoardo Mortara won his second victory by winning at the end of Race 1 of the DTM at the Norisring where Audi had not achieved success since Laurent Aïello in 2002.

The Italian took the lead of the race when Mattias Ekström (Audi) attempted to overtake Robert Wickens (Mercedes), eliminating both drivers and also involving pole sitter Christian Vietoris (Mercedes) who only took tenth place.

Edoardo Mortara thus takes the lead of the Championship with two points ahead of Marco Wittmann (BMW) who finished just off the podium after starting from 13th position. The top three was completed by Jamie Green (Audi) and Paul di Resta (Mercedes).

Adrien Tambay (Audi) finished in the points for the second time this season after arriving in seventh place behind Bruno Spengler (BMW) and Maxime Martin (BMW). His compatriot Esteban Ocon (Mercedes) gave up.
