DTM – Mortara wins and returns to the title race

Edoardo Mortara won his fourth victory of the season at the end of Race 1 of the DTM on the Hungaroring (Hungary) where Audi signed a sextuplet. The Italian who started from pole retained the lead and won with a one second lead over Jamie Green, while Miguel Molina completed the podium.

Adrien Tambay finished in sixth place after being overtaken by Nico Müller who had tires in better condition in the strategy game.

Marco Wittmann limited the points loss by placing the first BMW M4 DTM in seventh place ahead of the Mercedes C 63 DTM of Felix Rosenqvist, but the Championship leader could not prevent Edoardo Mortara from returning to 14 points with three races remaining in the season.

Felix Rosenqvist lifted the first Mercedes to eighth place ahead of Timo Scheider (Audi) and Robert Wickens (Mercedes) after having struggled for a long time against the German.

Mattias Ekström (Audi) had a difficult race after clashing with the BMWs of Martin Tomczyk and Maxime Martin before another contact with the M6 DTM of Augusto Farfus. The Belgian finished 12th while the Swede finished 19th.
