DTM – Nico Müller takes his first victory

Nico Müller (Audi) scored his first victory in DTM by winning Race 2 of the DTM at the Norisring. Starting in third position, the Swiss took the advantage over Paul di Resta (Mercedes) before taking the lead of the race after the stops at the expense of pole sitter Tom Blomqvist (BMW).

The Briton finished in second place while Maxime Martin (BMW) scored his second podium of the season after Hockenheim by gaining three places in the peloton. The Belgian notably benefited from the retirement of Mattias Ekström (Audi), author of the best time in qualifying but penalized three places for his collision in Race 1, who again found himself caught in contact.

Paul di Resta takes fourth place ahead of Lucas Auer (Mercedes). The Austrian was able to fight for victory before losing time in the pits due to a stubborn wheel. Marco Wittmann (BMW) took the points for sixth place and leaves the Norisring at the top of the Championship with two points ahead of Edoardo Mortara (Audi), winner of Race 1, who finished eighth behind Bruno Spengler (BMW).

Adrien Tambay (Audi) finished eighth behind Bruno Spengler (BMW) after being sent into a spin by Antonio Félix da Costa (BMW). Esteban Ocon (Mercedes) took 13th place after starting from 19th position.

Mike Rockenfeller will receive a three-place grid penalty for Race 1 in Zandvoort (Netherlands) on July 16. The German was penalized for contact with teammate Timo Scheider who finished classified without seeing the checkered flag.
