DTM – Philipp Eng and Joel Eriksson with BMW in 2018

On the occasion of his end-of-year evening, Bmw motorsport confirmed the drivers who will defend its interests in 2018 in DTM. If the trio Augusto Farfus – Timo Glock – Marco Wittmann will be unchanged at Team RMG, Team RBM will undergo a major reshuffle.

After the announcement of the departure of Maxime Martin, BMW has decided to align alongside Bruno spengler two beginners in the discipline with Philipp Eng and Joel Eriksson. Eng is coming off a 2017 season between Blancpain GT Series with ROWE Racing and ADAC GT Masters with Team Schnitzer, but remains a regular in closed car events.

The complete opposite of Joel Eriksson. The 19-year-old Swede, member of the Junior BMW program, completed two seasons in the FIA F3 with Motopark, winning the title of vice-champion this year behind Lando Norris. Eriksson also won the Zandvoort Masters in 2016.

The arrival of Eng and Eriksson comes at the expense of Tom Blomqvist, holder in 2017, and engaged with Andretti, partner of BMW, in Formula e. The latter will also be there in WEC with the new M8 GTE, just like Philipp Eng.
