DTM – What are the challenges for Zandvoort?

The young Marco Wittmann killed all the suspense during the last lifting of the DTM at the Lausitzring on September 14, securing his first title in the discipline. If among the Drivers only the places of honor still remain at stake (with all the drivers up to 19th Nico Müller, who can still mathematically finish 2nd), the two Manufacturers' and Teams' titles are to be awarded. As for the teams, the new champion's BMW Team RMG can win the title this weekend in the Netherlands on the Zandvoort track, its lead over the Audi Sport Team Abt peaking at 75 points. On the other hand, there is still suspense among the Manufacturers, since only 18 units separate BMW at the top from Audi, Mercedes having long been excluded from the title race.

The brand with the rings will present itself on the Dutch track in a position of strength, having always succeeded well on this track, notably with successes in 2011 and 2012 for Mike Rockenfeller and Edoardo Mortara. But BMW won last year thanks to the Brazilian Augusto Farfus ahead of three Audis, including that of future champion Rockenfeller. Revenge expected on Sunday with perhaps an already decisive advantage for the victorious brand before the grand final at Hockenheim on October 19.
