DTM – Robert Wickens, big first at the Nürburgring

This time, it's for real! Robert Wickens won in the 7th round of the DTM 2013, on the Nürburgring. The Canadian, engaged on a Mercedes Classe C Coupé AMG, showed itself very comfortable on a wet track at the start of the race, notably achieving a sensational overtake on the outside of Augusto Farfus (BMW M3 DTM) and Adrien Tambay (Audi RS 5 DTM). ). While the track gradually dried out, nothing came to prevent the Toronto native from winning his very first victory in this category, in which he has been competing since last year. Named winner after the Norisring when Mattias Ekström's Audi was decommissioned, the Mercedes driver was then reclassified second when it was decided that the event would remain without a winner. On this Sunday, Wickens can be satisfied with having achieved his first success with a masterful hand.

Behind the winner of the day, we find on the podium Augusto Farfus (BMW M3 DTM), who started from pole position, and Christian Vietoris, also in a Mercedes. Opportunistic during a start disrupted by rain, Mike Rockenfeller (Audi RS 5 DTM) chose to shift his strategy to put on wet tires very early on. A winning bet which will allow him to finish 4th, far ahead of Bruno Spengler (BMW M3 DTM), who finished 14th, who until now was his direct opponent in the fight for the title. As a result, the German is now 35 points ahead of Vietoris, now second in the Drivers' standings. As for the reigning champion, he is in 4th position with 67 points, while there are only three races to go and 75 points to distribute.

Second at one point in the race, Adrien Tambay (Audi RS 5 DTM) again obtained an honorable result, finishing 6th.
