DTM – Rockenfeller on pole ahead of Wittmann at Zandvoort

The first row of the grid for the Zandvoort race (Netherlands), penultimate race of the DTM, promises an eventful start since Mike Rockenfeller will start on pole ahead of Marco Wittmann, the new reigning champion who succeeded him, after having beaten him by two hundredths. Audi Sport will have a great opportunity to finally achieve its first victory since three RS 5 DTMs are in the first four places.

Edoardo Martara and Mattias Ekström lined up on the second row ahead of Jamie Green and Nico Müller, but the Swede received a five-position penalty for slowing down Jamie Green (Mercedes) during the first qualifying session, while the Italian was disqualified for a front diffuser mounted too low.

Pascal Wehrlein, named third Mercedes F1 driver after victory at Lausitzring (Germany), lifts the first AMG C Coupé to fifth place ahead of the BMWs of Martin Tomczyk and Joey Hand. Miguel Molina (Audi) took ninth place ahead of Gary Paffett (Mercedes) and Adrien Tambay (Audi). Maxime Martin (BMW) is only in 16th place.

The start of the Zandvoort race will be at 13:30 p.m. and can be followed live streaming on AUTOhebdo.fr.
