DTM – Scheider and Ekström with Rocky at Audi

Mike Rockenfeller having been the first official by Audi for the 2014 season, the brand with the rings also subsequently confirmed the presence of Mattias Ekström and Timo Scheider next year. If five places still have to be allocated, the first three holders have between them five titles in the discipline. “I am delighted that our two most successful drivers in DTM are there alongside Mike Rockenfeller”, commented Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, Audi's sporting director. “Eki and Timo have been important pillars among our DTM team for several years. They are great men, with strong personalities, who are popular with fans and perfect ambassadors for all four rings. »

Mattias Ekström has 17 victories in DTM as well as two titles acquired in 2004 and 2007. The Swede will continue to defend Audi's interests in the discipline for the 14th season after becoming official driver of the brand in 2004. “Audi has become my second home. I couldn't be more motivated to fight for victories and titles again in 2014."

Timo Scheider is also a recognized driver in the DTM paddock since he won two successive titles with Audi, just after the second obtained by Mattias Ekström, which allowed the Ingolstadt manufacturer to become the only brand to have won three Driver titles in a row in the history of the discipline. “The dream with Audi can continue”, commented the German who will have his ninth season defending the colors of the brand with the rings. “I wanted to continue driving for Audi and it's nice to see that they still trust me after so many years. I hope we have many more years of success together. » However, the six-time DTM winner has never won with the RS5 DTM since his last success dates back to 2010.
