DTM – Spengler leads BMW hat-trick at Red Bull Ring

Bruno Spengler had a solid race at the Red Bull Ring where he started on pole while maintaining the advantage at the end of the 47 laps of the event. After a fifth place at Hockenheim and a podium at Brands Hatch, the Canadian won the 14th victory of his career in the discipline and took the opportunity to take control of the Championship. But the winner nevertheless found himself threatened by Timo Glock who started outside the top ten and who was only competing in his third race at the wheel of the M3. DTM. Former Marussia driver F1 achieved the best strategy by stopping in the first laps to put on the soft tires and move up to second place. The German would ultimately finish third behind Marco Wittmann after losing time during his second stop. The Bavarian manufacturer couldn't have dreamed of better winning a hat-trick at Spielberg.

Mike Rockenfeller and Mattias Ekström manage to place the first two Audis in the top five. The Team Phoenix driver, winner of the previous event at Brands Hatch, nevertheless drops to second place in the Drivers' standings with 12 points behind Bruno Spengler. Augusto Farfus places his BMW in sixth place following a virile fight with the Swede and is now 20 points behind the lead in the Championship. Christian Vietoris does not place first Mercedes only in seventh place, finishing ahead of the M3 DTM of Dirk Werner while the AMG C Coupé of Gary Paffett and Pascal Wehrlein completed the top ten. Adrien Tambay fails at the points gate.
