DTM – Spengler offers victory to BMW

Bruno Spengler made a good start from pole to claim his first victory of the year on the Lausitzring circuit. The Franco-Canadian above all offers the first success to BMW which is immediately in the game despite long years of absence. The winner, however, did not have an easy task since Gary Paffett (Mercedes) only falls by one second at the end of the 52 laps of the race and retains control of the Championship with 43 points on the clock Augusto Farfus places a second M3 DTM on the podium after starting from the first row.

Jamie Green (Mercedes) ranks fourth ahead of Mattias Ekström, the Swede being the first Audi driver. Timo Scheider (Audi) is sixth ahead of reigning champion Martin Tomczyk (BMW). Edoardo Mortara (Audi), Filipe Albuquerque (Audi) and Ralf Schumacher (Mercedes) complete the top ten. After his retirement at Hockenheim, Adrien Tambay (Audi) hoped to collect his first points of the season by starting from tenth place on the grid. But the Frenchman quickly fell in the rankings and finally ranked 18th.
