DTM / Super GT – Class One finalized before September 2017

Announced as the lever to technically bring the two championships closer together DTM and Super GT, the Class One regulatory project was to result in joint races from next year, as initially planned from 2015.

The promoters of the Super GT and the DTM, as well as the managers of the manufacturers involved in the two series, namely Mercedes, Audi et BMW pour le championnat allemand et Toyota, Nissan et Honda pour son pendant nippon étaient réunis hier au Japon à Tokyo, et ont toutefois signé a statement of intent to finalize and present the terms of the settlement before September 2017.

“During the meeting we took a step forward regarding the harmonization of regulations and defined the next steps on the process to achieve this, comments Hans Werner Aufrecht, president of ITR, promoter of the DTM. Furthermore, we managed to define two main objectives: cost reduction and geographic expansion of marketing campaigns. »

One of the big changes to this Class One could be the introduction of a new engine architecture, possibly centered on a turbocharged four-cylinder, as mentioned previously.
