DTM / Super GT – “Class One” regulations finalized

The draft regulation “Class One” which should ultimately make it possible to bring the series closer together DTM and Super GT is finalized. The engine will indeed be a four-cylinder turbo which must develop 600 hp, and the aerodynamic specifications have been defined and will be tested. Future creations will resemble current DTM and Super GT cars.

“We have reached agreements in many areas,
and we have taken an important step towards achieving our common goal, explains Hans Werner Aufrecht, president of ITR. I look forward to the day when “Class One” vehicles from different continents compete against each other for the first time. »

So that those entered in the different championships can compete against each other, the first race contested within this common framework should be held at the end of 2017 in Japan, before a new round at the beginning of 2018 in Germany.
. The six manufacturers of the DTM and Super GT, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz (in Germany) and Honda, Nissan, Lexus (in Japan) are now waiting for a test concept to be defined. American manufacturers will also be involved later.
