DTM – Tambay takes his first pole at Hockenheim

Adrien Tambay is off to a good start to his third season in the discipline since the Audi driver took the first pole in the discipline at Hockenheim. With a time of 1'32"272, the Frenchman was a tenth ahead of Marco Wittmann's BMW while the M4 DTM Antonio Félix da Costa will start from third position for the Portuguese's first race. The rookie will share the second row with Bruno Spengler who is ahead of the Team Abt Sportsline Audis of Mattias Ekström and Miguel Molina. The Spaniard finished sixth before being disqualified following a camera problem.

Edoardo Mortara will thus inherit sixth position in his RS 5 DTM which is ahead of a group of local drivers with Martin Tomczyk in the lead ahead of Timo Glock and the Audis of Timo Scheider and reigning champion Mike Rockenfeller. THE Mercedes are in disarray since the first AMG C Coupé only occupies 14th place with Gary Paffett. Paul di Resta only took 18th position for his return to the star manufacturer in the German Touring Car Championship. Vitaly Petrov will start from the last row.
