DTM – Timo Scheider will leave after Hockenheim

Timo Scheider is the third driver after Martin Tomczyk and Antonio Félix da Costa to announce his retirement from DTM at the end of the season. The 37-year-old German will therefore leave the discipline at the end of the final contested this weekend at Hockenheim after 16 years, his first participation dating back to 2000 on the German circuit where he will say goodbye.

“I would have liked to continue racing in DTM, commented Timo Scheider who will make his 181st start in the German Touring Car Championship tomorrow. My heart continues to beat for the DTM. I have other exciting projects that I will be devoting more time to. This particularly involves my kart and F4 teams. But my status as a pilot will always exist through the Rallycross or other disciplines. »

Timo Scheider won the DTM title in 2008 and 2009 with Audi. The German started in the discipline on an Opel Astra entered by Team Holzer before joining the manufacturer at the Rings in 2006 and has seven victories to date.
