The BMW M3 DTM No. 2 by Joey Hand went up in smoke during a private test session organized last week at the Lausitzring circuit. The firm's propeller-driven sedan was then driven by Marco Wittmann when it caught fire following a fuel leak. The young German driver was not injured in this mishap, but the car was beyond repair.
The Bavarian manufacturer therefore had to rebuild a chassis for the American in less than a week so that he could be at the start of one of the most important stages of the season.
« This did not affect our preparations for the race.
