DTM – A demonstration in Japan for the Super GT final

One week after the success of a first demonstration of Super GT cars during the final of DTM in Hockenheim (Germany), it is the turn of the German manufacturers to make the trip to Japan. On November 11 and 12, during the final round of the championship in Motegi, one car from each brand entered in the DTM will complete several presentation laps.

Three experienced pilots have been appointed for this journey. Expert in Japanese competitions (champion in Formula Nippon and Super GT) Loïc duval will present its Audi RS 5. The Frenchman spoke about the chances of a rapprochement, or even a partnership, between the two championships in issue 2136 of AUTOHebdo, still available in digital version on all platforms or at this address. “That would be super interesting. I am convinced that in the eyes of observers, a Touring Car championship with German and Japanese manufacturers, who are among the most powerful in the automobile world, would be grandiose. »

Official BMW driver, Augusto Farfus will benefit from his participation in the FIA GT World Cup Macau to stay in Asia and drive an M4. “It is a real honor to represent the BMW brand in Japan. I took part in the Suzuka 1000 kilometers earlier in the season, and I was struck by the fantastic atmosphere”, recalls the Brazilian. Unlike him, Maro Engel will perform his baptism of fire in the land of the rising Sun. “I am curious to see the public's reaction to my Mercedes-AMG C 63 », confides the 32-year-old German, involved in the next season of Formula e with Venturi.

The objective is to achieve common technical regulations between the DTM and Super GT by 2019. Gerhard Berger, president of the ITR, organizer of the DTM, has put the V8 engines in the closet with this in mind. As in the Land of the Rising Sun, the 4-cylinder turbo will be required. “We will be able to evolve together on the same circuits”, he supported at Hockenheim for the final of his championship.
