DTM – Wittmann takes pole ahead of Farfus and Rockenfeller

Marco Wittmann took his first pole in DTM by achieving the best time in the last qualifying session held in Zandvoort. By completing a lap in 1'30"894, the BMW driver was less than a tenth ahead of his teammate Augusto Farfus who will start alongside him on the front row. The Brazilian, last winner at Oschersleben and on the podium in the last three events, will be keen to reduce his gap on Mike Rockenfeller in order to extend the suspense until the Hockenheim final. But the Audi driver is still performing very regularly since the German is in third place with 33 points ahead with two races remaining in the season.

Timo Scheider (Audi) completes the second row of the grid in front of the BMW of Joey Hand who finds himself surrounded by the RS 5 DTMs with Filipe Albuquerque and Edoardo Mortara following the American. Timo Glock (BMW) took eighth place ahead of the Audis of Adrien Tambay and Miguel Molina. The Frenchman will have the opportunity to aim for a fourth consecutive finish in the points. Bruno Spengler (BMW) took 16th position, but the reigning champion will have to fall two more places to his collision at Oschersleben. Gary Paffett is only 12th on the grid, but the Briton has the merit of being the first driver Mercedes. The Stuttgart manufacturer is going through a particularly difficult end of the season.

The start of the race will be at 13:30 p.m.
