Ekström in a state of grace at the Nürburgring

After dominating practice and qualifying, Mattias Ekström signs his first victory of the season at the Nürburgring. The Audi driver had a difficult start to the season, only reaching the podium once during the inaugural race at Hockenheim. His victory at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps seems to have given wings to the double Champion of the DTM which returns to success in Germany.

Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, however, looked grim when the checkered flag was waved. Mike Rockenfeller was on the verge of giving the manufacturer a double on the rings, but the German went wide at the first corner in the final moments of the race, offering second place to Bruno Spengler on a silver platter (Mercedes), remained in ambush behind the A4 DTM.

The Canadian is doing well in the Championship since Martin Tomczyk (Audi), his direct rival for the title, only finishes in fifth place behind Timo Scheider (Audi). The first driver from the Audi firm is ahead of Jamie Green (Mercedes) , who failed to take advantage of his second place on the grid.
