HRT will enter two Mercedes in DTM

The grid of DTM GT3 version continues to grow. A new team accustomed to GT World Challenge Europe has decided to take the plunge. Haupt Racing will field two Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the German series this season with the support of the star manufacturer.

Born from the ashes of the Black Falcon team in June 2020, HRT had a promising first season in 2020 with a victory in the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint at Magny-Cours and a pole at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring thanks to Maro Engel.

His commitment to DTM ultimately makes sense, as new team owner Hubert Haupt enjoyed success as a driver with Audi in the 1991 and 1992 DTM seasons, and also drove for Opel in the touring car series in 2001.

“This series is closely linked to my own career as a racing driver – and now also as a team owner,” comments Hubert Haupt. Entering the DTM is the next logical step for us. We know it will be a huge challenge, but it's exactly what we like. At HRT we are all passionate about motorsport and will take our usual professional approach to this challenge.”

Drivers will be announced soon. In addition to the DTM, HRT renews its presence in GT World Challenge Europe and Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS).
