Russia back on the calendar in 2020

For the first time since 2017, and a final visit to Moscow Raceway, the DTM will return to Russia in 2020. But this time, it is the city of Saint Petersburg which will serve as the scene for the German touring car championship, with two events organized on the Igora Drive route.

Enough to further internationalize the calendar for the next season, with a sixth visit outside German borders, alongside Zolder (Belgium), Anderstorp (Sweden), Monza (Italy), Brands Hatch (Great Britain) and Assen (The Netherlands).

The Russian round will be organized from May 29 to 31, 2020, and will be the third meeting of the championship after Zolder and the Lausiztring.

As things currently stand, the circuit is completed but has yet to receive approval. Russian officials also indicated that no discussions had taken place with the F1, while the Russian Grand Prix could well be forced to leave Sochi.

“The new track near St. Petersburg is very interesting, admits BMW Motorsport driver Philipp Eng. It is a state-of-the-art facility developed by Hermann Tilke with a varied layout. The track characteristics promise exciting races. »
