The Audi A5 DTM in its final version

Audi yesterday had its new Audi A5 DTM approved for the 2012 season. Development of the car is now complete before the official tests held from March 20 to 22 in Valencia.

The Audi A5 DTM in its final version

After announcing its teams for the 2012 season (ABT Sportsline, Team Phoenix, and Team Rosberg), Audi announced that its new Audi A5 had been definitively approved by the organizers of the discipline, putting an end to the latest developments of the car which now has its definitive line. The new regulations in force imply more common elements between the cars but the manufacturer with the rings is convinced of having found innovative solutions for its A5 DTM. “More than ever, every minute counts this year in the DTM. We have sought to keep the elements we worked on in the greatest secrecy for as long as possible., explains Dr. Wolgang Ullrich, Audi sporting director.

Filipe Albuquerque, driver of Team Rosberg with Edoardo Mortara, completed the first kilometers at the wheel of the Audi A5 003 which was very close to the final version in terms of weight and aerodynamics. “I expected a little bit of that, but I didn’t expect such progress”, commented the Portuguese. “The new A5 DTM behaves like a car, especially in fast corners, it?s really fascinating. I think I will have to readjust a little by switching to the old A4 DTM. »
