DTM announces revamped calendar

We will therefore have to wait until the weekend of July 12, 2020 to see the start of le DTM. ITR, promoter of the series, has finally announced a new calendar, after several days of silence which could appear worrying, taking into account the restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Norisring should therefore open the season before a detour at the end of July either to Russia and the Igora Drive circuit, or to Sweden at Anderstorp. Zolder, which was to open the season, will follow from August 7 to 9, before the Brands Hatch meeting which retains its date of August 22 and 23.

No changes for the Assen and Nürburgring meetings in September, before a detour to Russia or Sweden at the beginning of October, the choice being made based on the second round contested earlier in the season.

Scheduled for May, the Lausitzring is postponed to October while the 2020 campaign will end at Hockenheim and Monza on November 6-8 and November 13-15.

“These are unprecedented and uncertain times and our priority is the well-being of our families, our staff and our community, indicates Marcel Mohaupt, general manager of ITR.

Despite the uncertainty, we felt it was important to provide motorsport fans around the world – and everyone involved in the DTM – with a revised calendar with new dates.

It's clear that containing and treating this outbreak is everyone's first priority, but we believe sport can play an important role in helping to restore normality to people's lives.

With the support of our fans, the manufacturers Audi and BMW, who will bring 16 cars to this year's grid, the circuits and all our partners, we all want to put on an exciting season. »
