Le DTM is saved! While its future remained more than uncertain, the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters is clearly on the program of the German motorsport calendar in 2023. At a press conference to present the coming year, the ADAC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club) confirmed the continuation of the DTM about a week after taking it again. It will even be located at the very top of the pyramid across the Rhine.
Although it has a second championship using the GT3 regulations with the GT Masters, the ADAC does not intend to merge the two series. Thus, the GT Masters is on the penultimate level of the pyramid along with the Prototype Cup Germany in what will be called the “DTM Endurance ».
Concerning the DTM, the BoP, until now carried out by AVL, will now be provided by SRO while Pirelli will be the manufacturer of the championship. This association between the DTM and the ADAC also marks the end of the DTM Trophy reserved for GT4s since the German Federation will highlight the ADAC GT4 Germany.
The 2023 DTM season will be structured around a calendar of 8 dates with two rounds outside Germany: Oschersleben (May 26-28), Zandvoort (Netherlands, June 23-25), Norisring (7- July 9), Nürburgring (August 4-6), Lausitzring (August 18-20), Sachsenring (September 8-10), Red Bull Ring (Austria, September 22-24) and Hockenheim (October 20-22). Please note that the DTM Endurance will take place during the DTM weekends on at least 6 occasions. Additionally, no clash with GT World Challenge Europe or a 24-hour race is planned. Finally, the DTM will use an “ecological and innovative” fuel from Shell composed of 50% renewable components.
