DTM chooses Guangzhou for its trip to China

Mercedes announced it first but promoter ITR confirmed it moments later. THE DTM will go to Guangzhou on September 28 for his return to China after having hesitated with Shanghai where the discipline went during its first two appearances in 2004 and 2010 (with a victory for Gary Paffett during both events). All the appointments for the next season are now known following the calendar announcement last month. The city is a metropolis of more than eight million inhabitants located between Macau and Hong Kong.

“I am delighted that we have managed to find with our Chinese partners a location capable of offering a spectacular street circuit which will host a DTM race in 2014”, said Hans Werner Aufrecht, President of ITR. “To date, we have competed in two races in China. We have a duty to do well, having failed to offer the best level of competition during our previous trips to China. Moreover, it is time for us to bring motorsports to this country. I am certain that we are capable of meeting this challenge. »
