The DTM launches its “Classic” Esport series

Organized on RaceRoom, already in the spotlight for WTCR Esports competitions, the Esports Classic Challenge of DTM will give pride of place to the “retro” cars of the discipline.

Of the five rounds on the official series program, the first will see the competitors compete at the wheel of former glories such as the BMW M3 or the Mercedes 190, from the 1992 season.

The 2013, 2014 and 2016 campaigns will then be highlighted over the following three rounds before a final, the field of which has yet to be determined. Fifteen drivers who have played or are still playing in DTM will be taking part in this championship against five players, chosen at random from the 100 fastest in qualifying.

“With international circuits closed due to the coronavirus, we have seen a huge increase in online racing, underlines Marcel Mohaupt, manager of ITR.

Now, with the world's best drivers all eager to compete, and with high-end PCs and flywheel-pedal pairing closing the gap between the real and the virtual, Esports has become an increasingly recurring element of the life of motorsport.

The DTM Esports Classic Challenge is open to anyone who has the skills and desire to compete against some of the best drivers in DTM. Who knows, maybe we'll find a new sim racing superstar through this competition?
