The Super GT will model itself on the DTM for their joint meeting

On the occasion of the Super GT coming to Fuji this weekend, the promoters of the Japanese championship and those of DTM took the opportunity to present the format of their joint event, the first of which was soberly named “Super GT x DTM Dream Race”. This event will take place from November 22 to 24 on the Japanese track.

The format of the event will closely resemble those of the DTM. Two races of equal length (55 minutes + 1 lap) will be contested. Each car must observe at least one stop with the change of 4 tires. Refueling and changing drivers will be prohibited. The cars will be fitted with Hankook Ventus Races which are used this season in the DTM.

On the other hand, DRS and DTM “push-to-pass” will not be used in these events. The GT300 support category will race in a sprint race dedicated to it.

“The Dream Race in November will be a new stone in the building created between GTA and ITR (the promoters of Super GT and DTM, comments Gerhard Berger, president of ITR. We had already done demonstration laps with Super GT and DTM cars in 2017 in Hockenheim (Germany) and Motegi (Japan). We introduced our common technical regulations last year and we will ride together for the first time this year. »

Six manufacturers should meet for this event: Aston Martin, Audi and BMW in the DTM clan and Honda, Nissan and Lexus for the Super GT.
