Rast's perfect weekend at the Nürburgring

René Rast (Audi) could not have hoped for a better result at the Nürburgring. The reigning champion won both qualifying sessions and both races of the weekend, although the German was put under pressure at the start. Timo Glock (BMW) and Lucas Auer (Mercedes) were in ambush until the two opponents came into contact at the first corner, which resulted in a penalty for the former Marussia driver F1.

Paul di Resta (Mercedes) was more successful than the day before. Starting only from 11th place, the 2010 champion gained several positions during his first stint until coming back a few seconds behind the winner to grab second place ahead of Marco Wittmann (BMW). The former Force India resident especially reduced his gap on championship leader Gary Paffett (Mercedes) to two points after the Briton fell in the standings following a bad stop. The 2005 champion was able to save a 5th place by placing behind Bruno Spengler (BMW).

Loïc duval (Audi) was once again condemned to a comeback race following poor qualifying, but the Frenchman's efforts were poorly rewarded as he finished just outside the Top 10.
