After the season launch at Monza last June, the DTM returns to his country of origin, Germany, this weekend for the meeting on the Lausitzring, the route of which this time takes part of the oval.
Very active on the track this Friday, Arjun Maini (Team GetSpeed) took the lead after the first free practice session. With her Mercedes-AMG GT3, the Indian completed 24 laps including the best in 1'31"882. He was also the only driver under 1'32 during FP1.
In the standings, Arjun Maini is ahead of Maximilian Götz (Team HRT) and rookie Alex Albon (AF Corse) by almost 2 tenths. Daniel Juncadella (Gruppem Racing) and Philip Ellis (Team Winward) complete the Top 5.
Eleventh during the first outing on the track of the day, Sheldon van der Linde (Rowe Racing) showed better legs in the afternoon. The South African dominated FP2 at the wheel of his BMW M6 GT3.
With a time of 1'31"221, Kelvin's brother only relegated Alex Albon, his closest pursuer, to two thousandths! Third at the end of the timer, Lucas Auer (Team GetSpeed) was somewhat left behind by Sheldon van der Linde since more than two tenths separated him from the South African.
At the head of EL1, Arjun Maini this time settled for 4th place, just ahead of 2013 champion Mike Rockenfeller (Abt).
