Marco Wittmann gives BMW a first victory this season

After Kelvin van der Linde's victory yesterday, Marco Wittmann won the second race of the weekend in Zolder. The German driver from the Walkenhorst Motorsport team gives BMW its first victory of the season. The double champion DTM ahead of Lucas Auer (Team Winward) on the track. The Austrian driver, however, took a 5-second penalty and therefore finished in 5th place. This benefits Maximilian Götz (Team HRT) who climbs to second place but especially Liam Lawson (AF Corse). The Australian will not leave Belgium empty-handed. Forced to retire yesterday, he reached the podium in race 2 and took some points from his rival for the title.

Winner yesterday, Kelvin van der Linde did not do better than 8th position today. The championship leader was blocked by Philip Ellis for much of the race. The other disappointment of the day is Alex's Albon. The ex-pilot Red Bull fails 6th but could have claimed better if the pit stop had not been missed (like yesterday).

The second race also saw the retirement of Monegasque driver Vincent Abril on the first lap, hit at the first turn.
In the championship, there is now a 21-point gap between the first two in the drivers' standings. The next meeting is scheduled for August 20 to 22 on the Nürburgring circuit.
